Dental Implant Options

What are the different types of dental implants?

It is important to realize that there are many different types of dental implants. Currently, the most common are the endosseus (root form) implants. This is further divided into 2 categories: standard implants and mini implants. Mini implants are 3 mm or less in diameter, and can be a good solution in certain clinical conditions where space can be very limited, such as in the lower anterior area.

What does getting dental implants involve?

There are 2 phases in getting an implant-supported restoration. Phase 1 involves the surgical placement of the dental implant. After healing, phase 2 involves the fabrication of the tooth (crown). Although there are many techniques in placing dental implants, we use the latest minimally-invasive surgical techniques. This not only reduces the healing time, but significantly lessens the pain and discomfort as well. It is common for patients to not need pain medication. Temporary teeth are placed to help with functions and aesthetics.
